We are very proud to welcome our new VP of Human Resources, Leslie Shea.

With more than 13 years of experience as a strategic HR business partner, Leslie will be leading programs to acquire, cultivate, and maintain the best talent at SVG. Most recently, Leslie managed Talent Operations at HNTB, and prior to that, led the U.S. HR Business Partner team and HR operations for the Enterprise Software division of Lexmark International.

Let’s get to know Leslie.

Q: What is the biggest thing you want all employees of SVG to know about your role?
A: My main focus is to develop programs and practices that help SVG to attract, retain, and develop our talent while maintaining continual alignment with our company’s vision, mission, and values. I want HR to be connected and visible to employees so everyone feels comfortable bringing their questions, ideas, and insights forward.

Q: Why did you decide to go into Human Resources?
A: I love the variety of HR – the opportunity to be both analytical and relational, gain a broad understanding of the business, and to collaborate with business leaders and employees to develop solutions that impact people’s day-to-day work experience.

Q: What attracted you to this opportunity at SVG?
A: I was excited about the executive team’s focus and passion on building a great company with a positive and engaging culture. I felt that the company’s values were aligned with my own and that the leadership team has a strong vision and strategy for ongoing success.

Q: What is something you’re passionate about outside of work?
A: My family! I have a husband, two little boys (Jonah – 7, Kian – 3) and three cats. Outside of that, I am a huge bookworm but don’t have nearly as much time to read as I used to.

Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A: Don’t let your fear be bigger than your faith.

Q: How do you define “success”?
A: Being able to live a life that is in harmony with your personal values while also making a positive impact on others.

Q: What is your favorite spot in KC?
A: My husband and I love doing tours at Boulevard brewery!
